BUILD UP Skills > NEWCOM + CraftEdu

BUILD UP Skills is a multi-annual initiative financed through the IEE programme. With these projects, representatives of the building industry, public authorities and the vocational training sector of 21 European countries were committed to establishing national roadmaps for training and qualifying their craftsmen and other on-site workers (including renewable energy system installers) on high energy performance solutions for the building sector. 17&4 Organisationsberatung was moderator of the national platform and National Roadmap (Austria)

Cross-Craft was the first follow up project, providing training for interdisciplinary working on site. The National Training Standard offers the following qualifications:

  • On-site CrossCraft Module (3 hours), Basic CrossCraft Module (2 days), Quality Coach Training (3 days), Special Module Installation of renewable energy systems (1 day).
  • CrossCraft: Statements of professionals in the construction sector, Video

NEWCOM

is a follow up project to enable Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB). It has been started 2017 as a contribution to guarantee a low energy demand of new and deep renovation of buildings with nearly-zero energy standard. On the one hand blue collar workers need new and special competences for their on-site work, on the other hand it is foreseen to qualify persons who can inspect the quality of the buildings. For this, the project is deveoloping measures to:

  • set up promising qualification schemes for blue collar workers and building inspection
  • raise the market demand for the developed certification schemes to implement missing professional qualification
  • enable certification and mutual recognition between different member states

With the aim of a Europe-wide comparability of acquired skills, a competence database has been created. This database provides a basis for the mutual recognition of skills of professionals throughout
Europe.
